When he got the call annoucing he would officially be a Boston Celtic, Ktrie Irving was filming an “Uncle Drew” movie in Atlanta, according to Celtics general manager Danny Ainge.

Irving breathed a sigh of relief and took a moment to drink everything in when he received the call.

“I was on set, I cursed probably twice, then I ran out onto the streets of Atlanta and watched the cars go by,” Irving said at his introductory Celtics press conference on Friday.

Irving began playing the character Uncle Drew in 2012 for a series of Pepsi Max advertisements.

On Aug. 22, the Cavaliers agreed to trade Irving to the Celtics for point guard Isaiah Thomas, small forward Jae Crowder, center Ante Žižić and the Brooklyn Nets' 2018 first-round NBA Draft pick.

The trade was finalized on Wednesday evening when Celtics added a second-round 2020 NBA Draft pick for Irving.
