Kennesaw State University athletic director Vaughn Williams accepted the position of senior associate athletic director for administration at Boston College, according to an announcement by Boston College athletic director Martin Jarmond on Tuesday.

Named a winner of the 2016-17 Under Armour Athletics Director of the Year Award by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, Williams has served as the athletic director at Kennesaw State since 2011.

Williams returns to Boston College after serving as the assistant athletic director for operations and facilities from 1998 to 2004.

“I want to thank Kennesaw State University for the opportunity to lead Owl Athletics over the last six years,” Williams said in a statement released by the University. “The community embraced my family and me with open arms, and we forged relationships that will last forever. I want to extend my most heartfelt thank you to every student-athlete, past and present, the talented coaches, and staff... Most importantly, I feel very fortunate to have played a small part in all we did together. I wish Owl Nation nothing but the best. The Black & Gold will always have a place in my heart.”
