The Atlanta Hawks are close to hiring Golden State Warriors assistant general manager Travis Schlenk for the vacant general manager position in Atlanta.

Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution confirmed on Wednesday afternoon the Hawks plan to hire Schlenk and are close to a deal, but nothing has been signed yet.

Schlenk spent the last 12 years with the Warriors and was an assistant coach under Ron Jursa at UGA during the 1998-1999 season.
