Tilley, Todd advance at U.S. Mid-Am

Top two seeds Bradford Tilley and Thomas Todd III each won Round of 64 matches at the 2017 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship held at Atlanta’s Capital City Club’s Crabapple Course on Tuesday.

Tilley was the top seed after winning medalist honors. He was 3 and 2 in the opening of match play. Todd was a 7 and 5 winner.

The tournament continues with the Round of 32 and Round of 16 on Wednesday. The quarterfinal and semifinal rounds will be played Thursday. The championship concludes with a 36-hole final Friday.

In the most unexpected result of the day, Dusty Drenth upended defending champion Stewart Hagestad, 3 and 1.
