Garza, Zimmerman make USMNT

Greg Garza.

Two players with ties to Atlanta, Atlanta United fullback Greg Garza and Lawrenceville’s Walker Zimmerman, were among those selected for the U.S. men’s national soccer team that will face Serbia on Jan. 29 in San Diego, and Jamaica on Feb. 3 in Chattanooga.

Zimmerman is centerhalf for Dallas. Garza has said one of the reasons he agreed to a transfer from Tijuana in Mexico’s first division to Atlanta United and MLS was to possibly improve his chance to play for the U.S. men’s national team. The 25-year-old has made nine appearances for the team.

The U.S. team is coached by Bruce Arena. It has been training in Carson, Calif.
