Atlanta United fullback Greg Garza said he was disappointed to not be called-up to the U.S. men’s national team by manager Bruce Arena on Wednesday for the upcoming World Cup qualifying games.

“It is what is is,” Garza said. “I really don’t have much to say about it. I’ll keep working as hard as I can and see what the future holds.”

Arena chose DaMarcus Beasley and Jorge Villafana instead. Garza did receive an invitation to the U.S. camp in January and played in the tie with Serbia for his 10th cap.

Garza said Arena notified him of the decision by text on Tuesday.

Garza has started Atlanta United’s first two games and has one assist.

“In my personal view I thought I did everything I could to earn that spot and showed some pretty good stuff in the first two games in this league,” he said. “Hopefully I can build off that. The most important right now is to keep my head in Atlanta and the best will come after.”
