After signing with the Braves in February, former University of Georgia defensive back Sanders Commings announced he was released on Sunday.

Commings, an outfielder, recorded a .154 batting average, two hits and one RBI in six games with the Danville Braves.

“I'm just beginning my career. I look forward to signing elsewhere,” Commings said.

Commings was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 37th round of the 2008 MLB Draft, but chose to play football at UGA. Commings had a short-lived NFL career due to injuries after being drafted in the fifth round by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013.
