Falcons coach Dan Quinn said defensive end Adrian Clayborn will miss a third straight game while recovering from knee surgery.

Quinn on Monday ruled Clayborn out for the game against the 49ers on Sunday at the Georgia Dome. Clayborn had surgery to repair a damaged meniscus.

Three Falcons players didn’t finish the game at the Rams on Sunday because of injuries: starting cornerback Jalen Collins (knee), reserve safety Kemal Ishmael (shoulder) and reserve wide receiver Nick Williams (concussion).

Quinn said Collins suffered a “strain” that was being evaluated by doctors on Monday. He said the team is “hopeful” Collins will be available to play on Sunday.

Quinn said Ishmael re-injured the same shoulder that forced him to miss time during the exhibition season and has bothered him throughout the season.

“That’s a cause for concern that it’s the same injury he keeps re-aggravating,” Quinn said Monday. “He is literally one of our toughest competitors.”

Quinn said Williams is subject to the NFL’s concussion protocol. He will have to pass a series of tests before he is gradually allowed to return to football activity.

Quinn said wide receivers Julio Jones (toe) and Mohamed Sanu (groin) could practice on a limited basis when the team returns to the field on Wednesday. Their status is uncertain for the 49ers game.
