Famous alumni: Bob Newhart (Peabody Award-winning actor and comedian), John York (co-owner of the San Francisco 49ers), George Halas, Jr. (former president/owner of the Chicago Bears), Leslie David Baker (actor), Jennifer Morrison (actress), Jerry Harkness (former professional basketball player and civil rights activist) and Tom O'Hara (former indoor mile world record holder and 1964 Olympian).

Number of appearances in the NCAA Tournament: The Loyola Ramblers have appeared in six NCAA Tournaments (1963, 1964, 1966, 1968, 1985 and 2018) and won the 1963 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, then named "the NCAA University Division."

Famous fan: Sister Jean Dolores-Schmidt, Loyola's 98-year-old team chaplain, has quickly become the most famous member of the Ramblers' squad. Before games, Sister Jean, who served as team chaplain since 1994, says a prayer with players and coaches and after games, she provides her own scouting reports to coaches and sends notes encouraging individual players.
