Georgia Tech B-back Dedrick Mills was named to the initial watch list for the 2017 Maxwell Award, the Maxwell Football Club announced on Monday.

Mills, who totaled 771 rushing yards and 13 total touchdowns as a true freshman, was one of 85 student-athletes and one of 16 sophomores named to the annual Philadelphia-based Maxwell Football Club award.

The semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be named on Oct. 30 and the final three finalists will be named on Nov. 20.

The 2017 Maxwell Award winner will be announced during the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Dec. 7 and the award will be presented on March 9, 2018 at the Maxwell Football Club Awards in Atlantic City, N.J.
