Natrez Patrick missing from Georgia practice

Natrez Patrick is a junior inside linebacker at Georgia. He was part of Georgia's 2015 Signing Day class out of Atlanta's Mays High School. Patrick has made seven starts for the Bulldogs in nine games and ranks fifth on the team with 36 tackles. He's had some run-ins with the law. Patrick’s first arrest came two years ago as a freshman. Patrick’s second arrest came this season, leading to a four-game suspension. Once cleared, Patrick came off the bench for two games before regaining his starter role.

The Georgia football team held its second-to-last practice in Athens of this calendar year, and it did not include starting inside linebacker Natrez Patrick. At least during the portion that the media was present.

Patrick, a junior, has an uncertain status for the Rose Bowl, because of the alleged probation violation that is pending with Athens-Clarke County. Kirby Smart has been non-committal about Patrick's status with the team, but Patrick had been practicing, until Thursday.

Patrick is due to have a probation hearing on Jan. 11, three days after the national championship game, and 10 days after the Rose Bowl.

Also missing from practice were Latavious Brini and Deangelo Gibbs.

Georgia will have one more practice, on Friday, which will be closed from the media. Then the team leaves for Los Angeles on Tuesday.
