Jordan Harris, a sophomore guard on the Georgia men’s basketball team, has been suspended indefinitely, the team announced just before its game at Mississippi State on Saturday night.
No details were immediately given. This is the second time Harris has been suspended this season, and his future with the team appears to be in doubt. Harris did not travel with the team to Mississippi State, per Georgia color commentator Chuck Dowdle.
The news was announced in a simple e-mail press release from the team: “Jordan Harris, a sophomore, guard for the Georgia Bulldogs, has been suspended indefinitely.”
Harris also didn’t play in Georgia’s first two games this season, as well as two exhibition games that preceded it. Head coach Mark Fox did not give a reason at the time for sitting Harris, who was with the team for those games.
A 6-foot-4 native of Iron City, Ga., Harris has not started any games this season, averaging 15. 8 minutes per game off the bench He is averaging 3.5 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.
But Harris started 12 games as a freshman last year, averaging 4.7 points and 1.4 rebounds. He gave the team a solid presence on the wing, occasionally hitting 3s, and had started to show some flashes this season, with an ability to drive and make shots the team had been missing.
