College football’s inaugural early signing period begins Wednesday.

A look back at the most recent recruiting classes shows the Georgia Bulldogs hold a blue-chip advantage over the Oklahoma Sooners in the Jan. 1 at the Rose Bowl College Football Playoff semifinal game.

With seven, Georgia has the most five-stars of any team in the playoff, including Southeastern Conference rival Alabama (which faces Clemson in the other New Year’s Day semifinal game at the Sugar Bowl).

Georgia’s last four recruiting classes have averaged a Top 7 national ranking.

Oklahoma had its best class in a decade last year. The Sooners list just 1 five-star recruit on their roster.

Oklahoma’s recruiting classes have been in the Top 15 on average the last four years.
