The Bulldogs needed a signature win in 2016, coach Kirby Smart’s first in Athens, and secured it in one of the biggest games of the year -- the renewal of the Deep South’s oldest rivalry.

Georgia’s 13-7 victory over No. 8 Auburn last November was big for many reasons - it was the sixth of the season, making UGA bowl eligible, and it knocked the Tigers out of the running for the SEC West title. It was the biggest win for first-year coach Smart last season, a win aided by an interception returned for a TD by Alabama transfer Maurice Smith.
