The run game has saved UGA from a barnburner.

After Kentucky scored on its opening possession of the second half to cut the deficit to 21-13, Georgia turned to its senior running backs – Nick Chubb and Sony Michel – to put the game out of reach.

Michel scored his second touchdown of the day on the possession following UK’s score. Michel found the end zone from eight yards out to increase the lead to 28-13.

Chubb virtually finished Kentucky off at the start of the fourth. He shot down the sidelines 55 yards for the final blow.

Georgia has 272 rushing yards compared to Kentucky’s 98. Chubb sits at 151 yards on 15 attempts, while Michel has 83 yards on 11 carries.

Neither back has surpassed 16 carries in a game this season. With 14:17 remaining, there’s a chance Chubb reaches a season-high in touches.
