The long-awaited arrival of former UGA running back Todd Gurley to an NFL game may not be as long as some had originally expected.
After practice on Tuesday, St. Louis Rams’ coach Jeff Fisher told reporters “I’m not ruling him out right now.” Fisher also said that Gurley has been receiving reps with the first team offense and that he knows what to do.
Many reports came out originally saying that Gurley was not expected to play before Week 4 of the NFL season. The Rams will rely on the input of the team’s medical staff before moving forward with Gurley, who has been recovering from offseason knee surgery.
“We’ll see how he does, but this is a medical decision, a trainer’s decision, a collective decision,” Fisher said. “But we’ll see how he does this week.”
St. Louis could use help at the running back position, which struggled in its season opener after starter Tre Mason was ruled out with a hamstring injury.
It has been just over 10 months since Gurley played his final game for UGA, but he may finally get the chance to return on Sunday at Washington.
