Here are four things to know about Georgia’s upcoming matchup with rival Auburn this Saturday:
1. Game time and line: The game will be broadcast at 3:30 on CBS. Georgia (9-0, 6-0) is favored over Auburn (7-2, 5-1) by 2.5 on the road. UGA leads the all-time series 57-55-2.
2. Payback? The Deep South's Oldest rivalry (first played in 1892) will feature an Auburn team looking to return a favor. UGA stunned the Tigers, 13-7, last season in Athens. This time, Auburn has the chance to spoil Georgia's perfect season, while keeping their own SEC West title hopes alive.
3. Recent history: Georgia is 9-2 in the last 11 against Auburn. The Tigers last won in 2013, 43-38, during Auburn's season of miracles that ended with a loss to Florida State in the final BCS national championship.
Auburn also played in the national championship following its 2010 win over UGA. Cam Newton propelled the Tigers to a 49-31 win.
Four of Georgia’s nine wins in that span were by one possession. The last two meetings were decided seven and six points, respectively.
4. Padding the resume: As dominant as Georgia has been – enough to earn the top spot in the College Football Playoff rankings – its schedule hasn't exactly been grueling. Georgia's best win came at Notre Dame, which is looking better by the week. Mississippi State was its only other top 25 victory.
Despite obliterating Florida and Tennessee, those wins don’t carry the weight they would in the average year. Auburn, however, is the toughest challenge left on schedule. While defeating Alabama would likely lock Georgia into No. 1 regardless of its strength of schedule, if it were to lose to the Crimson Tide, the resume will come into play for further seeding.
