Georgia could use help on the defensive line since standout Trenton Thompson left the team to seek a spot in the NFL.

A former 4-star recruit has shown some interest in Georgia.

Clemson tackle Josh Belk was granted his full release from the program last week. Thursday, he’ll reportedly be in Athens, according to The (Chester, S.C.) News & Reporter. The paper cited Belk’s attorney Everett Stubbs with the news.

Belk was previously ranked as the No. 2 player in the state of South Carolina, No. 7 defensive tackle in the country and No. 102 overall player in the Class of 2018, according to the 247Sports composite.

He was an early enrollee for the Tigers but changed his mind. An in-state transfer to South Carolina also could be in the cards for the coveted lineman.

Belk graduated in December 2017 from a high school in Richburg, S.C. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney told reporters earlier this spring that Belk had all the tools and sometimes he forgot Belk was just 18.
