Multiple reports surfaced Wednesday night that NBA teams have been informed that the 2017-18 salary cap is now projected to be $99 million. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that a memo was sent to teams with the adjusted figure. That is a $5 million increase from last season, but a $2 million decrease than the once projected $101 million.

Four-time All-Star power forward Paul Millsap of the Hawks will enter unrestricted free agency eligible for a maximum deal.

Here is what a maximum deal for Millsap would look like based on the new cap number:

Year -- Hawks -- Another team

1 -- 34,650,000 -- 34,650,000

2 -- 37,422,000 -- 36,382,500

3 -- 40,194,000 -- 38,115,000

4 -- 42,966,000 -- 39,847,500

5 -- 45,738,000 -- N/A

Total -- 200,970,000 -- 148,995,000

It appears the Hawks won’t offer the full maximum contract to Millsap based on recent comments by new general manager Travis Schlenk. Other teams could express interest in discussing a maximum contract for Millsap.

A non-max deal could still be worked out between the Hawks and Millsap. For now, there are new parameters in place.

Stay tuned.
