NBA players and basketball media will join fans in selecting the starters for the 2017 All-Star Game. It’s the first time the league has included players and media in the selection process.

Voting begins at 11 a.m. on Sunday before the five Christmas Day games. It will conclude on Jan. 16.

Fans will account for 50 percent of the vote and all current players and a panel of basketball media will account for 25 percent each.

Players and media may complete one full ballot, featuring three frontcourt players and two guards from both the Eastern and Western Conference. Players may vote for their teammates or themselves.

“I think it’s cool,” Paul Millsap said. “Have the peers play a part in it. I think it’s cool.”

Fans may submit one full ballot each day through NBA.com, the NBA App, Twitter, Facebook and Google Search.

Starters will be announced live on TNT on Jan. 19. The reserves, as selected by NBA head coaches, will be announced the following on Jan. 26.

This year’s All-Star Game will be played in New Orleans on Feb. 19.
