Paul Millsap should have had a free-throw attempt for a chance to tie the game late in the Hawks’ 135-130 loss to the Cavaliers Friday night, according to the NBA’s Last Two Minute report issued Saturday.
The Hawks rallied from 25-point deficit and got as close as a point when Millsap hit a 14-foot step-back jumper with 1:32 remaining. The field goal made the score 124-123. According to the NBA, Millsap was fouled by LeBron James on the play as the report cited an incorrect call. A video review "shows James (CLE) make contact to Millsap's (ATL) hand that affects his upward shooting motion," according to the report. Here is the video of the play.
The Cavaliers got a 3-pointer from Kyle Korver 15 seconds later to increase their lead to four points. The Hawks never got closer than three points the remainder of the game.
The report found one other missed call citing that James should have been called for a travelling violation with 37 seconds remaining. The infraction occurred after James rebounded a Kent Bazmore missed layup with the Cavaliers leading 127-123.
The Last Two Minute report also found 14 correct non-calls and five correct calls.
The NBA reviews and issues a report on all games that are within five points with two minutes remaining in regulation or overtime when appropriate.
