Paul Millsap won’t play in the Hawks first two exhibition games but the All-Star power forward is increasing his workload following a non-surgical procedure on his right knee.

Millsap took part in shooting and offense scripting drills on Wednesday before the team departed for an exhibition games against the Grizzlies on Thursday.

There was no scrimmage or contact work in the practice session. Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer called the work the “logical next step” in his recovery.

Millsap underwent the procedure last month and the team said he would miss the first three weeks of training camp, including the first two exhibition games. Millsap also will miss Saturday’s exhibition at the Spurs.

Millsap said he underwent the procedure after undergoing persistent swelling in his knee following five-on-five scrimmages during voluntary workouts.
