The Hawks have taken a major step in rebuilding their front office with the hirings of Michael Blackstone as assistant general manager and John Treloar as director of player personnel and the promotion of Jeff Peterson to director of scouting, according to a person familiar with the situation.

Blackstone previously served as the executive director of basketball operations for the Cavaliers. He most recently worked at SNI (Shapiro Negotiation Institute), a consulting firm that specializes in professional training and coaching located in Baltimore.

Treloar has served as director of player personnel for the Suns. Prior to joining the Suns, the basketball veteran was coach of the Cavaliers’ NBA Development League affiliate in Erie. He aslo has collegiate experience after serving on staffs at Indiana and LSU.

New Hawks general manager Wes Wilcox has worked with both Blackstone and Treloar in the past when he was with the Cavaliers organization. Wilcox was named director of player personnel when Blackstone was named executive director of basketball operations in September 2010. Wilcox also served in several other roles in the organization including as general manager of the D-League affiliate in Canton.

Peterson has served as a scout and coordinator of basketball operations for the Hawks before his promotion.

The Hawks have other moves to make to complete the front office and training staff.
