It’s official: the start of Sunday’s game between Atlanta United and Minnesota United in Minneapolis was the coldest recorded by MLS at 19 degrees.

The previous lowest temperature was 22 degrees, set in 2013 in a game between Real Salt Lake at Sporting KC.

A couple of other records were set in Sunday’s 6-1 win for Atlanta United:

The Five Stripes became the first expansion squad to score six goals in its inaugural year;

The Loons became the first team in MLS history to give up at least five goals in consecutive games.

But the snow was the story. Atlanta United manager Gerardo Martino said he has never coached in conditions that included snow. Miguel Almiron, Tyrone Mears and Michael Parkhurst said they’ve never played in games with as much snow as what fell on Sunday. Josef Martinez said he has played in the snow and cold before in Switzerland.

Though MLS’ weather records are incomplete, here are the coldest temperatures at kickoff recorded by the league.
