Atlanta United forward Jeffrey Otoo has been loaned to Charleston for the season.

Otoo, 19, also was with the Battery last season. Charleston is Atlanta United’s USL affiliate. Otoo made four appearances with the Battery last season. He signed with Atlanta United from Charity Stars in his native Ghana.

Otoo likely will get more playing time with Charleston than he would have with Atlanta United, which also has Kenwyne Jones, Brandon Vazquez and Josef Martinez as forwards.

Of the players who have been acquired by the club, Alex Kapp and Romario Williams have yet to report. Kapp is unsigned and has an injury and Williams has been with Jamaica in its camp.

The loan reduces the number of players occupying international slots on Atlanta United’s roster by one to 12. The team has nine slots to use. It can trade for more, loan more players or try to secure green cards.

Atlanta United is training this week in Flowery Branch in preparation for the Carolina Challenge Cup, which will be played in Charleston. Atlanta United will play Columbus on Saturday, Seattle on Wednesday and Charleston on Feb. 25.
