Atlanta United may have acquired the rights to another player: former Seattle fullback Tyrone Mears.

The website DirtySouthSoccer.com reported that Mears revealed on twitter that his option was declined by Seattle, and picked up by Atlanta.

A text to an Atlanta United spokesman hasn’t been returned.

Mears, 33, is a native of England who has played for several teams in his native country, including Preston North End, West Ham, Derby County, Burnley and Bolton.

He was signed in 2015 by Seattle, where he made 65 appearances in two seasons.

Mears would be another piece to a rapidly developing defense that already includes fullbacks Mark Bloom, Mikey Ambrose and Greg Garza, and central defenders Michael Parkhurst, Zach Loyd and Miles Robinson, who the team picked second in the first round of the SuperDraft.

The team will start training camp on Monday .
