Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almiron may not play in Saturday’s preseason opening in Chattanooga because of a minor knee issue, manager Gerardo Martino said on Thursday.

Almiron, 22 and a native of Paraguay, is one of three Designated Players signed by the MLS expansion squad. The 0thers are Hector Villalba and Josef Martinez.

Martino said the trainers would evaluate Almiron Thursday and Friday to determine if he will play.

“I’m working normally and we will see what the coach says,” Almiron said. “It’s him who decides.”
