The swarm has been a part of the National Lacrosse League for 11 seasons.

The Minnesota Swarm of the National Lacrosse League announced Friday the team will relocate to metro Atlanta for the 2016 season.

The franchise will be renamed the Georgia Swarm and has agreed in principle on an agreement to play its home games at The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth. The season starts January 2016.

The Swarm, in its 11th season with the NLL, features some NCAA champions and Olympic medalists. Among the young stars on the Swarm's roster are Jordan MacIntosh, a gold medal winner with Team Canada in 2014 and Joel White, a 2-time NCAA champion at Syracuse University, and Mitch Belisle, a member of the 2014 U.S. men’s national team.

Fans can get updates and ticket information from the team on the Georgia Swarm website. Fans can also follow the team on Twitter and Instagram.
