Pero Antic will miss Sunday’s game against the Grizzlies with back spasms. Gustavo Ayon will start in his place.

Antic has started the past five games at center as coach Mike Budenholzer settled on him as the primary replacement for Al Horford. Antic told the AJC that he was injured in Friday’s game against the Rockets when he was pushed from behind by Dwight Howard while grabbing a rebound. He said his back tightened up on the bench but he continued to play. Once the game was over and he was no longer warm the condition became worse and more painful.

There is no timetable a return and Antic will continue to receive treatment. The Hawks depart for London Monday for a game against the Nets.

Ayon has not played the past five games as a coach’s decision.
