Facebook tells story of family destroyed when #MH17 was shot down

The Wall Street Journal compiled social media posts that give a unique look into the lives of a family destroyed when #MH17 was shot down


There will surely be many tragic stories shared in the next several days, as victims of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 are identified.

One of the first faces of the tragedy to emerge comes from a Malaysian family that was preparing to start a new chapter in their lives but never got the chance when Flight 17 was shot down by a missile over Ukraine Thursday.

Below are some social media posts from the family of Tambi Jiee compiled by the Wall Street Journal. The posts show photos of a loving family that was excited to be moving back to Malaysia after spending three years in Kazakhstan where Jiee worked for Shell.

The family members are believed to have all perished on Flight 17. The victims include: Tambi Jiee, 49, his wife Ariza Ghazalee, 47, and four children - Mohd Afif, 19, Mohd Afzal, 17, Marsha Azmeena, 15, and Mohd Afruz, 13.
