Eight people from Marietta, including six children, were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Florida, authorities said.

Six children and two adults from Marietta are recovering after a two-vehicle crash led to serious injuries in Florida.

The accident happened just before 1:40 p.m. Thursday on Butler Boulevard just before the Southside Boulevard overpass in Jacksonville, Fla., the Florida Highway Patrol said in an incident report.

Sergio Flores was driving alone in a GMC Sierra pickup truck when he made an improper lane change and hit the family’s Cadillac Escalade, the FHP said. He then over-corrected, sending the truck clockwise into a concrete barrier, officials said.

The force of the crash sent the Escalade spinning clockwise, into a light pole, and it then rolled over.

Three of the passengers were ejected from the vehicle, according to the Florida Times-Union.

Sarai Martinez, 32, Christian Martinez, 8, and Amy Duenas, 9, were seriously injured. The injuries to 35-year-old driver Rosalio Duenas and the four other children were minor, according to the FHP.

They were all taken to University of Florida Health in Jacksonville.

Flores, 21, of Aurora, Ill., wasn’t injured. He was cited on charges of careless driving with a suspended, canceled or revoked license.

Both drivers and one of the children with minor injuries were the only people wearing seat belts, according to the FHP.
