Services held for boxer Vernon Forrest

Services for champion boxer Vernon Forrest were held at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia in August 2009

Alfonso Forrest Jr., pays his last respects to his uncle Vernon Forrest at the close of funeral services on Monday.

Evander Holyfield was among at Monday's services for champion boxer Vernon Forrest at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia.

Relatives displayed Vernon's championship belts after the services, and wore them during the funeral.

In white suit wearing one of the championship belts is Forrest nephew William Houston.

At the close of the service, Bishop Eddie Long called friends and family members up to the casket.

Pall bearers lift Forrest's gold casket from the hearse as it arrives at the church for the viewing and service. Services for champion boxer 38-year-old Vernon Forrest were held at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia Monday.

This bouquet for for champion boxer Vernon Forrest included a pair of boxing gloves.

Pall bearers carry Forrest's gold casket into the church. Forrest's funeral service will be held following a noon viewing.

Forrest was shot multiple times during a robbery in Atlanta on July 25.

Vernon's brother, Alfonso Forrest, gives reflections on his brother. He pledged to do "whatever it takes to get justice."
