NOT SO HOT LANES--October 2, 2012 - Atlanta, Ga.,: At 7:00 AM, rush hour traffic approaches the HOT lanes entrance near the Old Peachtree Road exit with a sign posting the current charges for use of the HOT lanes on I-85 south Tuesday morning in Duluth, Ga., October 2, 2012. This is the one-year anniversary of the HOT lanes on I-85. In its first 11 months, the I-85 HOT lanes took in $3.1 million. That's less than the $3.3 million to $6.7 million state predicted it would. On Tuesday morning, the toll rate matched its Sept. 11, 2012 all-time high, charging $5.95 for a ride on the whole 16-mile lane.

HOUSE FIRE KILLS TWO--October 2, 2012 ROCKDALE COUNTY--Michelle Smith becomes emotional and buries her face in her husband Bennie Wortman's chest as she talks to reporters about her neighbors who perished in a house fire. Two people were found dead following a fire Tuesday, October 2, 2012, in Rockdale County. Rockdale firefighters discovered the bodies of a man and woman while fighting a fire in a single story home at 1573 Mountain View Circle in Rockdale County. Rockdale fire PIO Michael Morris said that the fire was initially called in at 11:45 a.m. with fire units dispatched a minute or two later. First arriving firefighters found heavy flames and smoke coming from the right side of the house. "They initiated a primary search moments later" and would find the two victims inside. Neighbors Michelle Smith and Bennie Wortman talked about their neighbors with assembled media. "She used a walker," Smith said. Wortman said the elderly gentleman "got around pretty good."
