December 8, 2016 Atlanta: Carolyn Williams knows how to bundle up for cold weather as she headed towards the Five Points Marta station along Alabama Street Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016. Though the temperatures were in the 40Ã¢â¬â¢s Thursday morning, Williams wasnÃ¢â¬â¢t taking any chances. Williams has just moved here from Indiana and said sheÃ¢â¬â¢s used to cold weather. LEDE PHOTO - December 5, 2016 Atlanta: Friends and family consoled one another after a woman had been detained in connection with a shooting that police believe started with an argument and left a man dead Monday morning, Dec. 5, 2016 at a southwest Atlanta apartment complex. "The female currently that we have we believe is the alleged shooter," Atlanta police Lt. Charles Hampton said. The preliminary investigation at Deerfield Gardens indicated a verbal altercation "escalated to the shooting," Hampton said. "We're not sure how the gun played into it," he said. "That's what we need to figure out, exactly what happened." Officers responded to a call about a person shot just before 8:30 a.m. at the apartment complex in the 2900 block of Campbellton Road. "Upon their arrival, they did in fact find a male in his early 30s shot, deceased on scene," Hampton said. Police said they will take the woman who was detained to the homicide office to continue the investigation. Hampton said the woman is cooperating. "As of right now we don't believe that between the two individuals that there's any history of domestic violence," he said. LEDE PHOTO - December 8, 2016 Atlanta: The entrance of Marcel restaurant was taped off from the public early Thursday morning, Dec. 8, 2016 where two men were critically injured Wednesday night after falling from the second floor of the Midtown commercial building with shops, restaurants and bars. The incident happened in the 1100 block of Howell Mill Road, Atlanta police spokeswoman Elizabeth Espy said early Thursday. "The victims were leaning on the metal railing when the entire section of that railing broke free causing both to fall one story," she said. The railing was directly next to the entrance of Marcel restaurant, Espy said. When police got to the scene just after 11 p.m., they found the two men lying on the sidewalk.
