A 55-year-old Paulding County man on his way to a weekend motorcycle rally was killed Friday morning when he was hit by a driver who ran a red light, according to the Columbus newspaper.

Kenneth Tarczewski, of Dallas, was killed while riding with his wife and two friends, the Ledger-Enquirer reported.

“I laid my bike down to go and get to him,” Lynn Tarczewski told the newspaper. “My friend that was behind me, he laid his bike down. We knew it was bad.”

Investigators believe the driver who hit Kenneth Tarczewski dragged him about 75 feet, according to the report. A witness said the driver, whose name was not released, was on her cell phone seconds after the crash. No charges had been filed late Friday.

“So, police are investigating whether she was talking on her phone when it happened,” Lynn Tarczewski said.

Kenneth Tarczewski is survived by two children and four grandchildren.
