Authorities in a northeastern Idaho county said they received a report of harassment through Facebook, sent by a person dressed as a clown.

The Shoshone County Sheriff's Office said the messages on Facebook threatened stalking behavior and violence, KHQ-TV reported.

A majority of these cases seem to be pranks that have been taken too far, authorities said. Shoshone County deputies said they take the reports seriously and are currently working on the "clown" cases that have been reported.

Officials say they are working to ensure the safety of citizens and to let perpetrators know they will be held accountable.
