Air Canada Flight AC008 bound for Toronto, Canada, was diverted to Calgary Wednesday after several passengers were injured after heavy turbulence.

Air Canada spokeswoman Isabelle Arthur said that the Boeing 777 Air Canada flight AC088 was carrying 332 passengers and 19 crew members on Wednesday. She says the aircraft landed without incident.

The airline says some passengers will require hospitalization but could not confirm how many people will be sent to nearby hospitals.

There was no official word on the severity of the injuries.
