A motorist was trapped for about an hour this morning after a large tree fell onto his car in Gwinnett County.

Gwinnett fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said the incident happened about 10:30 a.m. in the 3800 block of Abbotts Bridge Road near Duluth.

Rutledge said the unidentified driver sustained “obvious cuts,” but was conscious and alert.

“It took fire crews approximately one hour to free the man from the wreckage,” Rutledge said. “The man was pinned from his waist down.”

He was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville.

No other details were immediately available.
