If you see smoke coming from a neighborhood near Hillgrove High School today, yes, there’s a house on fire.

But it’s supposed to be.

Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services workers are training by lighting a house on fire. The house was donated to the agency.

The department said in a news release that, starting at 8 a.m., a house in the 1800 block of Macland Woods Drive in Powder Springs will be up in flames.

According to Cobb property records, the two-story house, built in 1971, has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and 1,952 square feet of living space.

Well, until it is burned to the ground Wednesday afternoon.

The county warns folks to use caution while driving around, as there will be heavy smoke.
