An inspection by Georgia Department of Transportation determined that a new roundabout in Roswell did not meet state standards and needed to be repaved.
Work was set to start on the roundabout on Monday, but that ruling came on Dec. 8, just as a wintery mix of weather was rolling into north Fulton County and metro Atlanta.
Because of the snow and cold temperatures, the repaving of the roundabout at the intersection of Houze and Hembree roads was delayed by a few days. Repaving of the intersection began on Thursday.

For paving, the air temperature must be above 40 degrees for the duration of the project to properly install asphalt. City officials said work on the roundabout is “heavily dependent” on the weather.
The repaving may require several days to complete, the city says. The roundabout will remain open, but drivers should expect temporary lane closures and are advised to stay alert and use caution.
The roundabout at Houze and Hembree roads became fully operational in November after 21 months of work. It cost $4.4 million to build, but only $353,500 of that was paid by Roswell. Most of the cost was covered by GDOT.
