Google Map users might run into some confusion when visiting Sandy Springs.

As it turns out, two streets just six miles apart share the same name: Spalding Court.

Both streets stem from Spalding Drive, but the street on the road’s west end — between Mabry Road and Glenridge Drive — existed first. The new Spalding Court is farther east, between Happy Hollow Road and Spalding Lane.

Sandy Springs officials say that the naming of the new Spalding Court was a mistake, and that planners for a subdivision there, Nesbit Reserve, named it after building along Spalding Drive.

City spokeswoman Sharon Kraun said that the city has recognized the problem and will rename the newer street as Nesbit Reserve Court at a city council meeting on Sept. 5.
