Democrat John Ossoff lost the 6th District race Tuesday, despite easily carrying DeKalb County's portion of the vote.

He recorded 33,847 votes to Republican Karen Handel’s 24,070 in the faithfully blue county, according to unofficial results.

Handel prevailed in the northernmost eight precincts in the district, which also includes parts of Cobb and Fulton counties. Ossoff won the other 35.

Ossoff's fate was similar to that of Hillary Clinton in the November election, when she handily won DeKalb but lost the state.
