A water main break that affected part of Phipps Plaza has been repaired, officials said.

Belk was the only retailer affected by the break, the mall said in a statement. The rest of the retailers and restaurants at Phipps continued operating normally.

The break also interrupted service to 2,000 residents in the 700 block of Longleaf Drive and seven fire hydrants, according to the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management.

Five high-rise buildings, one apartment complex and a subdivision were affected.

The repairs resulted in two temporary lane closures on Phipps Boulevard between Lenox Road and Longleaf Drive, the department said earlier Thursday in a statement.

The outages were first reported late Wednesday when the 16-inch water main broke.

It is unclear what caused the break.

A second break interrupted service to 25 homes in the 200 block of Maple Street, the department said.
