UGA Press holding book sale due to missing van

Its recent missing-van episode has prompted the University of Georgia Press to hold an online book sale to try to recover some lost revenue, according to a media report.

The organization initially said its van was stolen during the AJC Decatur Book Festival in September, the Atlanta Journal Constitution previously reported. However, the van actually was towed from a parking lot designated for oversized vehicles — illegally, the organization said.

The towing meant that the UGA Press could not sell any of the hundreds of books that staffers had brought to the festival, the Athens Banner-Herald reported. The Decatur event is the largest independent book festival in the United States.
