A former Target site will be used as a self-service storage facility and townhomes will sit in its parking lot off Austell Road at Hurt Road and Floyd Road. These two rezonings were approved unanimously Sept. 19 by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners.

Attorney Kevin Moore, speaking for the applicant Floyd Road Property, said the former Target store comprises 4.98 acres and 100,000 square feet. Floyd Road Self Storage will not expand or reduce the size of the one-story building but will replace the outside with brick, stucco and glass to be “new outside and inside.”

In front of that former Target, Moore said the parking lot of 7.31 acres will be replaced by a maximum of 51 townhomes with a wood privacy fence and a community pavilion.
