Here’s a rare time when you might actually want to go wait in line to deal with the bureaucracy of getting your car registered or your tag renewed.

That's because, after a four-month makeover, the motor vehicle office at the South Cobb Government Service Center is reopening Feb. 8.

“The primary reason for the renovation was to address safety and security for our staff and customers,” said Sheri Boddie with Cobb County Tax Commissioner Office.

The space is larger and more secure due to a technology upgrade throughout the office, she said.

The location at 4700 Austell Road originally opened in 1989.

The office's hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but offers a self-service kiosks you can access at any time.
