Survivor of crash that killed 4 UGA students moved to Shepherd Center

The University of Georgia senior critically injured in a crash that killed four classmates was moved Thursday afternoon to Atlanta's Shepherd Center from Athens Regional Medical Center.

Agnes Kim, 21, has been hospitalized since the night of the April 27 crash in Oconee County. Kim, a Brookwood High School graduate, was driving a Toyota Camry northbound on Ga. 15 when she crossed the center line and drove into the path of a Chevrolet Cobalt, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Three passengers in the Toyota died at the scene of the wreck and the fourth died at the hospital. The crash killed all four passengers in Kim’s car: Kayla Leigh Canedo, 19, of Alpharetta; Brittany Katherine Feldman, 20, of Alpharetta; Christina Devon Semeria, 19, of Milton; and Halle Grace Scott, 19, of Dunwoody.

A former resident assistant, Kim has been involved with the Young Life ministry and Capital City Church since her freshman year. The marketing major was scheduled to graduate this month, but was in a coma following the wreck.

On Thursday, Kim was admitted into the Brain Injury Unit at Shepherd, Jane Sanders, a spokeswoman for the rehabilitation center, said in an emailed statement.

“Ms. Kim’s family is appreciative for the outpouring of support from the University of Georgia community and the public, but have requested privacy at this time,” Sanders said.

Classmates created a online fundraiser for Kim on the YouCaring.com website to assist her family with medical costs.
