The Sugar Hill City Council voted recently to amend the alcoholic beverage code to redefine the definition and requirements for a restaurant and to allow for an entertainment district within the Central Business District.

Open carry will be allowed within the defined area which requires an establishment derive at least 50 percent of their total gross sales from the sale of prepared food or meals. To be defined as a restaurant a business must also serve at least one meal a day, six days a week except during holidays, vacations and periods of redecorating.

In order to regulate the sale and possession of alcoholic beverages, the council also set the boundaries of the Downtown Entertainment District, an area surrounding City Hall and The Bowl.
