Stockbridge will make its case against the proposed city of Eagle’s Landing in a series of town hall meetings.

A series of town hall meetings has been scheduled by Stockbridge city officials regarding the proposed city of Eagle’s Landing, the creation of which is opposed by Stockbridge.

City officials are expected to discuss the fact that Stockbridge is currently one of the few cities in the state without a city property tax and a newly created city would likely be required to have such a tax. Stockbridge officials also believe that the proposed new city, which would take property away from Stockbridge, would set a precedent in Georgia that has a negative impact on other cities.

The town hall meetings are 6 p.m. Aug. 16 at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Home, 2580 Hwy. 42; 6 p.m. Aug. 22. at Global Impact Christian Ministries, 125 Red Oak Road and 3 p.m. Aug. 30 at Stockbridge City Hall.
