All southbound I-75 traffic for a stretch of the interstate in Cobb County will be closed part of this Saturday.

Crews will need to shut down the interstate overnight as they finish up a bridge that spans I-75 as part of the Northwest Corridor project, which state transportation officials say is nearing 85 percent completion.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, crews will be setting a beam for the bridge.

Southbound lanes will be closed from exit 259 to Windy Ridge Parkway; motorists will be detoured to turn left onto Cobb Parkway then onto I-285 and back onto I-75 south.

The closures will last from 11 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday. It was closed during the same time frame last weekend.

The Northwest Corridor is scheduled to open summer 2018, officials said.
